When you think of an American car company that you can trust, it’s without a doubt Chevrolet. The amount of innovation and awards they have received year after year continue to amaze us all! Now, a lot of people sometimes associate Chevrolet with big trucks and SUVs, but on top of those they have incredible sedan and urban automobiles with features unlike anything we have seen before. I was so honored to received the privilege to try out these innovations hands on with a nice drive out to the desert city of Palm Springs in the brand new Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback!
I had no idea what to expect from this vehicle, but I knew I was in for something special, which even ended up being a understatement to the experience! When the car was dropped off I was quickly guided over some of its features, like Apple CarPlay, Wifi Connectivity, Blind Spot Alerts, Rear Parking Assistance, and so much more, but I will get to all of that.
I have always had a vision of me driving down the PCH in a bright red convertible passing all the miles of ocean. So, when it came to choosing a car color I obviously lived out part of my fantasy and chose red! I set off for the desert, which means a few hours of traffic in LA until you can get to the open road, but I actually enjoyed the drive even if there was traffic. Imagine windows down, music up, and not wasting any data because you have a personal 4G hotpot. I’m talking real wifi, not the slow airplane wifi that takes days to load pages. It also comes in handy when you lose service in the desert and you need to continue your GPS and music, just saying! Obviously none of us should be using our phones while we drive anyway because it is extremely dangerous, so instead of having to live with that guilt, the Chevy Cruze offers Apple CarPlay. With CarPlay you don’t ever have to pick up that phone, however you still can use every feature right from your dashboard. Think of the car basically mirroring your phone while your driving. I was so surprised by how much I was able to do, whether voice text messaging, calls, Spotify, apple maps, reminders, literally everything. This is real technology innovation in a car!
Something I really loved about the driving features was the blind spot alerts. If another vehicle is in any close proximity on either side of the car, then you will receive a warning light on either side view mirrors. Blind spots can be very frightening because you really can’t ever see them without taking your eyes off the road, so this is a major key to driving safety, especially for our first time drivers!
Since I live in Los Angeles I don’t ever really experience cold weather unless I am traveling, but I do remember living in Ohio in the frigid cold. Chevy has taken that awful frigid feeling into consideration for us all with not only heated seats, but now a heated steering wheel, which I would have died for as a kid driving to high school in the freezing cold! These features are just some of so many amazing additions to the Chevy Cruze, and it makes complete sense that it is one of Chevrolet’s best selling vehicles.
I spent the weekend zipping through the dessert, enjoying a nice stay at The Parker Hotel, A PGA golf lesson and a hike through Indian Canyon! I loved having this car for such a great experience, and with all these amazing features it’s really something you must try out for yourself to see how truly awesome this vehicle is! Sadly it was a test drive so I returned the car, but was already excited to drive it again soon! I can’t wait for my next Chevrolet trip and to show you guys why their cars are so great!
